Dear students,
We have finished the first unit of the book, both in 3rd and 4th of ESO.
In our 3rd. year course book we have talked about hobbies and interests. You let me know some of yours, let me now tell you which are mine.
First of all, I have to say I´m a restless person, if you see me sitting down without doing anything something is not working well. As a result, I never get bored. There is always something to do in my life because I am interested in lots of things and to keep myself even busier than I am, everytime I have the chance to learn something new ....there I go!.
I like cooking, knitting, crochetting, sewing, restoring old furniture, drawing, painting, taking care of my plants and growing vegetables. Last year, my friends Nati and Melania introduced me in the world of scrapbooking and of course I loved it!. Last Saturday, I attended a course on Medieval calligraphy. Anyway, another hobby to add to my list.
I have always been attracted by the old objects, things I can restore, vintage clothes and complements, and of course old books. I love to have in my hands a 50 or 80 year old book and the older it is the better. I like the smell, the touch. I enjoy looking at the way the letters are drawn, the way the pages are binded. Simply wonderful.
As I do not have many chances to have old books in my hands, there is a virtual place I visit from time to time. Is the British Library. One can sit comfortably at home and spend hours looking at, reading and listening to some of the masterpieces of literature or to some notebooks written by famous writers or scientists. This is why I wanted to share this wonderful experience with you. I hope you like it.
This letter is dedicated to my 3rd year students. However the rest of you can enjoy getting lost in this wonderful virtual library.
Looking forward to your opinions,
Yours faithfully,
Elizabeth
